ABOUT LANZAROTE

Lanzarote is a unique island of spectacular scenery and stark contrasts . The landscape is volcanic and very different to the other Canary Islands . It is located approximately 40 miles from the Morrocan coast in the Atlantic Ocean and about 4 hours flying time from the U.K. The weather is fine and warm throughout the year with very little rainfall and temperatures varying between 21 and 34 degrees .

The buildings are mainly low rise in complexes with garden areas and there are many inland villages untouched by time . The whole island gives a feeling of relaxation and quality .

There are many interesting places to visit - the Timanfaya National Park is a must . Here you can take a camel ride to see the volcanic landscape or take the interesting bus tour around the craters . In the central parts of the island you will see the very unusual way local farmers cultivate their land and to the north Los Jameos is a unique system of underground tubes to be visited . There is also an aqua park and a golf course , to mention but a few of the island`s areas of interest .

The best windsurfing areas are to the north of the island , whereas the south is more sheltered and has lovely beaches of golden sand . The Papagayo beaches are famous throughout the Canaries for their unspoilt natural beauty and crystal clear sea .
